about me

With more than 40 years of learning and guiding on the Buddhist path, with 20 of those as a chaplain in palliative care, I have worked closely with many people in the midst of change and seeking a sense of purpose. I transitioned to coaching in 2014 as a way of broadening the range of clients and life-challenges I could bring my skills to support.

The hearth that sustains these practices is my family: a long term marriage, children and grandchildren, and the loving integrity of the previous generation.

I bring self-confidence and experiential wisdom to my work: listening deeply, possessing a mature understanding of the nature of change and transition, and sharing creative perspectives and practices to encourage you in engaging fully with your life.

experience

For 20 years I worked as a board certified chaplain in hospital, hospice and community settings supporting individuals and their families through illness and end-of-life.

In 2014 I was certified by the Hudson Institute of Coaching and have since worked with individuals and companies to create coaching programs, teach strategies for better work-life balance and strengthen empathy in leadership. As well, it has been a great pleasure to work with MBA students at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, introducing them to the benefits of coaching and contemplative practice.

As a student of the Buddhist tradition since the late 1970s I have focused on blending contemplative practice with work and family life including leadership and mentoring roles with the Nalandabodhi Buddhist community since 2000. I began carving spoons in 2021 as a creative exploration and to honor the gifts of my mother who had a lifelong commitment to craft.
